Go Green Tip: Use reusable water bottles rather than using disposable plastic water bottles.
While disposable water bottles are easy to recycle it isn’t environmentally responsible particularly because they don’t always end up getting recycled (86% in the US aren’t recycled). It can actually take as much as 1000 years in landfills for non-recycled plastic water bottles to degrade. In fact, 1 billion tons of manufactured plastic is still in the environment. Also, manufacturing plastic uses large amounts of energy and resources that generate toxic emissions and pollutants that are harmful for the environment.
Not only is disposable plastic bad for the environment, it’s also bad for humans to ingest the chemicals found in plastics. Toxins such as BPA have been found to leak into food or liquid within the plastic bottle.
For a safe and eco-friendly alternative use stainless steel, BPA free plastic or glass reusable bottles.
